Madalasa Upadesha-The Epic Lullaby

The Epic Lullaby

Beyond our known realm of existence , there lies a quantum state of undifferentiated wholeness. This state is named differently across different cultures. Some call it Shiva- Shakti , some TAO , some call it God and others Buddha. Physicists are still trying to decipher this state of quantum proportion but philosophy has already proclaimed that reality , as we know it is a mathematical boundary in the function of the infinite state. If by some mechanism we can connect ourselves to the underlying quantum state , our existence makes more sense and meaning. We can then stop worrying about our visible self and focus on our quantum state of being , the one that is referred to as Truth-Consciousness-Beauty in the Hindu term of "Satyam , Shivam , Sundaram".

The Madalassa Updesha

Meaning:
Madalasa says to her crying son:
“You are pure, Enlightened, and spotless.
Leave the illusion of the world
and wake up from this deep slumber of delusion”

Meaning:
My Child, you are Ever Pure! You do not have a name. A name is only an imaginary superimposition on you.
This body made of five elements is not you nor do you belong to it. This being so, what can be a reason for your crying ?

Meaning:
The essence of the universe does not cry in reality. All is a maya of words, oh Prince! Please understand this. The various qualities you seem to have are are just your imaginations, they belong to the elements that make the senses (and have nothing to do with you).

Meaning:
The Elements [that make this body] grow with accumulation of more elements or reduce in size if some elements are taken away. This is what is seen in a body’s growing in size or becoming lean depending upon the consumption of food, water etc. You do not have growth or decay.

Meaning:
You are in the body which is like a jacket that gets worn out day by day. Do not have the wrong notion that you are the body. This body is like a jacket that you are tied to, for the frutification of the good and bad karmas.

Meaning:
Some may refer to you are Father and some others may refer to you a Son or some may refer to you as mother and some one else may refer to you as wife. some say “you are mine” and some others say “you are not mine” These are all references to this “Combination of Physical Elements”, Do not identify with them.

Meaning:
The deluded look at objects of enjoyments as giving happiness by removing the unhappiness. The wise clearly see that the same object which gives happiness now will become a source of unhappiness.

Meaning:
The vehicle that moves on the ground is different from the person in it similarly this body is also different from the person who is inside! The owner of the body is different from the body! Ah how foolish it is to think I am the body!

The middle class trap

I have heard this many times that middle class life is bliss. You are not rich enough to be insecure with your wealth, not poor enough to be incapable of meeting your survival needs. It is the middle class that is the fuel of the economy. We, the middle class people, should aspire to educate ourselves , have ambitions to be rich and lead a moral disciplined life. We should be loyal to our friends , families and our jobs. We should be religious and honest and punctual and be sensitive to the needs of the society.  However, when I think carefully , it seems that the existence of middle class itself is an illusion. Someone who is a middle class in USA  is a poor class person in Africa. Even within the middle class , there are numerous sub classes with complex interactions between them. In India a Brahmin and a Sudra can both be economically middle class but in terms of social hierarchy , one of them enjoys higher power and prestige than the other. The use of the term middle class...

The twenty laws of The Mother

  1) The words that symbolizes The Universal power like God, Allah, Krishna , Kali , Universe , Energy , Shakti and many others are mere synonyms. To these words , I may add another one , " The Universal Mother" , the ONE , who expresses herself through NATURE.  2) The Universe is the play of existence and non existence and the mutual interactions between them. If Shakti is existence , Shiva is non-existence. They are inseparable and essentially two different but complementary perspectives of the same entity.  3) Reality is made of pairs of opposites . We can not think of Life separated from Death  or of Good without thinking of evil. These are interdependent of each other and cannot exist in isolation. 4) Matter is Energy that is condensed in finite time and space. Matter is one of many manifestations of energy. The creative and destructive energy of the Universe is manifestation of consciousness. This is the One source of all Truth and Bliss. We can call it Love....

The Introduction to the Bhagavad Gita by Aldous Huxley

This interpretation of perennial philosophy (Sanatana-dharma) by Aldous Huxley is one of my favorite reads from the subject of Philosophy. When I first read it , I realized that it does not take understanding of Quantum Physics and Neurosciences to know the reality. Consciousness , herself has the ability to realize herself through an intuitive knowledge.  The Perennial Philosophy, as realized by the subjective experiences of many mystics , in different religious traditions , offers a universal metaphysical framework that transcends individual world views. It emphasizes the interconnectedness of all life and things in the Universe and promotes a path of self-realization and divine unity, offering a profound alternative to the materialistic and action-oriented philosophies that dominate modern thought.  Here it is : "The Introduction to the Bhagavad Gita by Aldous Huxley (The Introduction is in the Translation of Bhagavad-Gita by Swami Prabhavananda and Christopher Isherwood.) ...
